adapted from http://thatwhichnourishes.com/2013/07/05/the-mac-and-cheese/
So....NORMALLY I cook very healthy meals, but this recipe is one of my exceptions. :)
Ingredients:
1 lb. pasta
1/2 c. butter
1/2. c. flour
4 c. whole milk
6 c. sharp or white Cheddar
2 tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
2 T. butter
1/2 c. whole wheat bread crumbs
Directions:
1. Boil your pasta of choice according to package directions. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
2. While the pasta is cooking, melt 1/2 c. butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sprinkle in 1/2 c. flour and whisk together for 2-3 minutes to let it cook.
3. Slowly pour in 4 cups of whole milk, whisking as you go until smooth. Add in 6 cups freshly shredded Cheddar. Add in salt and pepper.
4. Put the whole mixture into a buttered 9 x 13.
5. In a small skillet, melt 2 T. butter over medium heat. Add in 1/2 c. bread crumbs. Stir constantly until golden brown. Sprinkle over macaroni.
6. Bake for 12-13 minutes.
